Alison Lionel, born 1983 into the Pukatja community in the remote APY Lands of Central Australia, is a member of Ernabella’s renowned Lionel family. Alison is a versatile painter and ceramic artist and mother of four. She first started coming to the Ernabella Art Centre as a young girl, watching and learning from her mother and grandmother.
In recent years Alison has developed her own artistic style, focusing on elements of the natural environment that she observes when out on Country. Alison's work has exhibited in galleries all around Australia and in Belgium. Her work is also held in the collection of the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

The 'Likara' artwork has been licensed by Copyright Agency and interpreted, with artist consultation and approval, throughout the resort collection. These unique printed products from the MAARA x Alison Lionel collaboration have been proudly designed and made in Australia; the land from which the artwork and our stories originate.
Alison has been particularly paying attention to is the movement of light on the trees. ‘I see the colour on the tree and I see it is always changing. When the sun is going down, colour is moving all over the tree’.
